effective supervision creates space to think

I offer clinical supervision to therapists who want more than a space to simply review what happened in their sessions. I’m interested in what sits beneath the work: what is happening between therapist and client, what you are noticing and responding to, and what you might be missing.

I’m an experienced individual and couples therapist. Alongside my private practice, I work as a couples and relationship counsellor with Bright Light / Relationship Scotland and as a freelance therapist at Changes East Lothian. I undertook my psychotherapy training at the University of Edinburgh and Persona (Glasgow) where I also completed my couples and supervision training.

My approach is grounded in person-centred therapy, with influences from psychodynamic and existential thinking. I’m particularly interested in the therapeutic relationship and in how our own experiences, assumptions and emotional responses become part of the work.

I use the Seven-Eyes Model as my primary supervision framework, exploring the therapeutic process from different perspectives, including the client, therapist, relationship and supervisory relationship. It helps us slow down, become curious and see the work from different angles. I also draw on other perspectives when they help us understand the work more fully.

We can bring difficult sessions, stucknesses, uncertainties, or simply a sense that something isn’t quite making sense. Or that 'the process' isn't particularly discernible. Together, we can explore what you noticed, what you felt, what you might be struggling with, and what the work might be asking of you. Supervision is a space to consider how your values, experiences, and emotional responses intersect with your practice, while keeping ethical and professional considerations firmly in view.

My aim is to offer supervision that is supportive without being overly reassuring, challenging without being judgemental, and thoughtful without becoming overly theoretical. Above all, I want supervision to help you develop your own clinical thinking, deepen your self-awareness and trust your capacity as a therapist.

If you’re looking for supervision that gives you space to think, reflect and develop your practice, I’d be happy to talk. Contact me on 07305 595912 or at info@ontheprom.com.
